FETUSES ALSO GO TO HEAVEN

"Fetuses also go to Heaven" is a satirical work that critically examines the development of scientific
and medical discourse around themes such as sexuality and reproduction. Imitating the tones and
styles of scientific outreach programs, we challenge the presumed objectivity of the biological
analysis of human sexual and reproductive behaviors. To better emulate the tone of scientific
outreach, we invented a new special mammal, "more than human," called Berthalia, and analyzed
its reproductive habits through courtship, questioning the presumed binary nature of sexual roles.

The section dedicated to gestation attempts to defeminize maternity by inventing a special type of
pregnancy where the fetus does not develop in the usual mammalian way. The play concludes
with a live account of an abortion.
