
Álvaro García is a filmmaker and video technician based in Stuttgart.
Álvaro (Madrid 1994) moved to Dublin at the age of 8, where he spent most of his teenage life. During his stay in Ireland, he had the opportunity to study at St.Kilian’s German school, allowing him to discover both German and Irish cultures. After finishing school, he decided to move to Stuttgart in 2012 to start his new venture in Germany. It was then when he got proficient in German and started his professional life. He successfully completed his studies at the Merz Akademie in Stuttgart under Film & Video. During his studies, he completed his internship at AMA Film. This great experience extends to the present and he continues to cooperate with AMA Film on various projects, such as “DAS FAST NORMALE LEBEN” - Dir. Stefan Sick & “WHY WE PLAY” - Dir. Thorsten Schütte.
Álvaro’s passion is to observe, accompany, unravel and tell people's stories through the medium of film. He has advanced and developed his experience and skills in Producing, Directing, Camera & Editing. For the last years he has been very active in the theatre, culture, and art scene as a Stuttgarter filmmaker.
His main focus lies under both short and long documentary film formats, and has currently finalised his first debut feature documentary about homelessness in Dublin, “SLEEPING ROUGH”. He is currently working on his next project, “ICH HÖRE ZU”. A feature documentary about the German meditation-artist, Daniel Beerstecher who plans to go silent for a year while hiking across Germany.
